As it sits idling with a vibrant blue hour sky starting to fade overhead, the lead unit for tonight’s Marht Turn waits for the nocturnal run south on chilly December evening.

The CCH 3349 sits quietly on one of the locomotive yard tracks near the CCH's mobile office as it waits for its crew to arrive and bring it to life in a little over an hour.

The bright new colors of the recently formed C&C operation provide a nice contrast with the rural scenery of south Alabama as the paper mill train keeps rolling on towards the Mead plant.

With my friend Britt driving to get ahead of the train for the next photo location, this allowed for me to try a pace/reverse pan shot of the lead unit as we fly by it at 40mph.

After dropping off the Conductor, the Mahrt Turn pulls ahead as it prepares to uncouple from its first 20 cars and drop them off onto the State Dock's lead track.
